Let beautiful, glowing skin and improved health be a part of who you are! The first thing people see when they look at you is your skin. Of course we have amazing dermatological drugs and modern day medicine to help with any flaws we have, but what’s better than facilitating that process so that nothing can hold us back? That’s where yoga comes in! There are so many different Asanas (postures) that can be done to help prevent all-around fatigued skin. Focusing on poses that bring blood flow to the face and head region can really help!
For beginners, try Uttanasana, which is a simple standing forward bend. This yoga pose brings nutrients and oxygen into the cells, encouraging renewal of skin cells. Staying in this posture for about one minute should be sufficient. Just be sure to come up gradually to avoid any dizziness or discomfort.
Another great pose for skin renewal is the popular Bhujangasana, or Cobra Pose. Start by lying on your stomach with toes flat on the floor and hands placed under the shoulders. Slowly lift the head and torso off of the floor while taking a deep breath. Be sure to keep your navel touching the floor. Keep hands flat on the floor, supporting your torso and keeping the back arched. Hold this posture for about one minute and slowly come back into initial position. This posture helps with bringing oxygen into the cells and allows flushing of toxins out of the cells.
For more advanced yogis, try spending a minute in Sarvangasana, or Shoulder Stand. This is one of the most effective yoga poses for healthy, glowing skin! Start by lying flat on your back. Slowly raise your legs and torso off of the ground, allowing the entire body to rest on the shoulders. Rest your hands on your lower back, allowing your hips to stay raised from the floor. Stay in this position for thirty seconds to one minute and breathe slowly and steadily. Slowly release legs down to the ground to come out of the posture. This posture is great for promoting blood circulation in the head and face and preventing dull looking skin. The surplus of oxygen to the face also helps to fight free radical damage.
