Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that affects around 3% of the population, causing excessive sweating. Often, this extra perspiration occurs in a specific area of the body with a high concentration of sweat glands, such as the armpits. More than half of people affected by hyperhidrosis are never diagnosed or treated.
In the past, hyperhidrosis treatments were only capable of providing temporary relief, but a unique new laser technology called Precision TX™ now offers a permanent solution to excessive sweating. The Precision TX™ device uses a Sidelaze800™ bi-directional laser to target sweat glands in the underarm area, using the focused laser energy to remove the glands’ function.
The Precision TX™ procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, and is usually easily tolerated by patients. It involves no downtime, no side effects, and only minimal discomfort. Our board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bruce Katz – who previously helped pioneer the use of Cellulaze and SmartLipo – is currently leading an Institutional Review Board study using Precision TX™ for hyperhidrosis treatment. So far, the study shows that Precision TX™ significantly reduces sweat in 80% of patients, even six months after treatment, and does not require follow-up procedures to maintain results.
