How SmartLipo works

SmartLipo was the first laser device of its kind. Over time, it has become the most widely used and studied laser liposuction treatment available. What to expect from your laser liposuction procedure

SmartLipo laser lipo is performed on an outpatient basis and uses local anesthetic. The length of the treatment will depend on the size and amount of the treatment areas, but on average, the procedure takes 1 to 2 hours. When you arrive for your procedure, your treatment areas will be marked and you will be given a local anesthetic. The incisions used for laser liposuction are much smaller than the ones that are used for traditional liposuction, and the addition of a laser to liquefy the fat cells allows for more consistent and easier removal. While you may feel light pulling or tugging sensations, the treatment is not painful.

Because laser lipo doesn’t require general anesthesia, you will be able to stand up after your procedure. This changes the game for liposuction because our staff can see how your results will actually look with the element of gravity added, and they can make adjustments right then if necessary. This is something that is not possible with traditional liposuction. For most patients, one session is enough to achieve the desired results. However, touch-up treatments are an option if you want to maintain or refine your original results.

Laser liposuction recovery

Compared to patients who undergo traditional liposuction, laser liposuction patients experience a much faster healing and recovery process. In fact, one of the greatest benefits of SmartLipo is the short recovery period. Most people can return to their usual routine after only a day or two of downtime.

You may experience mild aches after your laser lipo treatment, as well as light bruising and swelling. Younger patients tend to heal faster and have less discomfort, but their results typically take longer because younger individuals tend to retain fluid longer than older patients. Although everyone is different, the majority of patients will see 80% of their final results within 1 to 3 months following the treatment.

The incisions that are made during laser lipo are so small that they don’t require stitches. This means that any scars left behind are virtually undetectable in most cases. The average SmartLipo patient will see noticeable results within a week after the treatment. These results will continue to improve over the next 3 to 6 months. As with many fat removal treatments, the outcome is permanent as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
