Every time you frown or squint, the muscles between your eyebrows are contracting. This may not sound like a big deal, but over the years, it can eventually lead to unsightly wrinkles forming in the skin. These creases are called glabellar lines or “frown lines,” and they can make your face appear much older than it really is. If you'd like to say goodbye to your frown lines and/or other facial lines and wrinkles, you may want to give Xeomin a try.
Xeomin is an injectable cosmetic treatment used primarily to reduce the appearance of glabellar lines between the eyebrows. Xeomin is also effective for treating other types of dynamic wrinkles, including marionette lines, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet.
Xeomin is made using the neurotoxin botulinum toxin type A, which is a neuromodulator and the same active ingredient found in treatments like Botox and Jeuveau. When Xeomin is injected into the facial muscles, it prevents the nerves from communicating with the muscles. As a result, the muscles become relaxed and unable to contract, which causes the skin to become smooth and any wrinkles in the area to disappear.
Although Xeomin shares similarities with Botox and other neuromodulators, it’s not quite the same. Unlike Botox, Xeomin is not manufactured with any additives; instead, it’s a purified form of botulinum toxin type A. This allows Xeomin to provide extremely fast, long-lasting results and makes it less likely than other neuromodulators to cause an allergic reaction.
Xeomin is a very effective dynamic wrinkle treatment that can offer some or all of the following benefits:
Before you undergo Xeomin treatment, the first step will be a quick consultation with one of our providers. They will evaluate your aesthetic goals and ask about your health, medical history, allergies, and any medications you’re taking. This will allow them to determine if you’re a good candidate for Xeomin.
The treatment itself will be a quick and simple outpatient procedure performed right at our clinic. First, a topical anesthetic will be applied to your skin in the treatment area. Your injector professional will then inject Xeomin into your skin using a very fine needle. All in all, the treatment should only take approximately 10 to 15 minutes, and you can return home immediately afterward.
Adults who would like to be rid of their dynamic wrinkles could be good candidates for Xeomin treatment. Ideal candidates for Xeomin should:
Xeomin can cause certain side effects, but most of them are minor and will disappear on their own. The most common side effects include:
Although it’s rare, Xeomin can sometimes cause more serious side effects, including a condition called botulism. If you encounter any of the following symptoms, you should seek medical treatment immediately:
For most patients, the positive effects of Xeomin treatment start to appear within three or four days. However, it can take around 10 to 14 days for the final results to become visible. You can typically expect the improvements from Xeomin to last for between four and six months.
